Wayne Pike Adult Literacy Program volunteers work one-on-one with adults, 17 and older who need help improving educational skills in reading and math, need to learn to speak, read and write in English, pass the citizenship test or need help studying to pass the GED test. Volunteers meet with adult learners twice each week for 1-2 hour sessions. Volunteers are trained on an individual basis to be able to begin tutoring right away. Tutoring is held at various site locations throughout both counties, including libraries, houses of worship and other sites that are public yet quiet and safe places. The WPALP main office is located in donated space on the third floor of the Wayne County Public Library.
