Owner and Center Director, Wendy Helmendach, is on a mission to help children in the Upstate achieve their highest potential, not just academically but as strong, confident citizens. Wendy’s corporate background in companies like IBM and Wells Fargo, has provided her with the foundation to run a successful business. But it is her heart and her experience as a mother of two children, ages 18 and 20, that led her to The Tutoring Center. Raising children in today’s competitive, demanding, educational environment is difficult and communities need resources to turn to when a child is struggling or is looking to enrich their educational experience. Wendy has been very active volunteering in the school system from Preschool through High School and seeks to use that knowledge and experience to help parents understand their options and help children be more successful. The Tutoring Center is a means to an end. It is a great company, but more importantly Wendy believes it will change the course of children’s lives. This is her goal, her motivation, and her desire for The Tutoring Center of the Clemson-Seneca area.
Wendy Helmendach, Owner and Center Director for The Tutoring Center, Clemson-Seneca has lived in South Carolina since 2011. Born and raised in NC with a BA in Mathematics from UNC-Chapel Hill, she then worked for IBM and Wells Fargo in the Atlanta area. Wendy is a married mother of two children ages 18 and 20. Both children graduated from D.W. Daniel High School in SC. Her oldest daughter graduated from Clemson University in 2015 and her son now attends Clemson University as a Freshman. Wendy is active in our community, serving as Chairperson of the Educational Foundation for Pickens County. She is a member of both the Clemson Area and Oconee County Chamber of Commerce. Wendy volunteers at the Golden Corner Food Pantry and enjoys helping her community. Wendy is passionate about the education of our community’s children. With a local Top 20 University and many other excellent higher education institutions in our upstate area, Wendy wants to insure that our local children can compete for acceptance in such a competitive college environment. Having options for supplemental, individualized education she believes, will strengthen our local educational experience and allow children to reach their highest potential.
