Matching People And Homes
The Home Share Now story began in 2001, when an elderly gentleman asked the Montpelier Housing Task Force why there wasn't a home sharing program to serve central Vermont. Two years of research and planning led to the creation of Home Share of Central Vermont.
Initial funding came from a Vermont Community Development Program (VCDP) block grant. In March 2003 Betsy Reid was hired to direct the new program.
The years between 2003 and 2010 saw an increase in demand that spurred the realization that home sharing must embrace all ages and encourage a positive environmental impact. With a broadened outlook, Home Share of Central Vermont applied and received a second VCDP block grant.
In 2010 Home Share of Central Vermont became Home Share Now. Our staff serves Washington, Orange and Lamoill
