Ever child is different, but disabled children are very different due to the complex nature of their disabilities. For instance, children with autism have a different brain structure than children with learning disabilities, and both are very different than children with mental retardation. Whatever the disability, any instructor must know and understand the scientific literature about the disability and know how to create and implement solutions for every child. Dr. Marcie has dual Ph.D.s; one in Rehabilitation Psychology, the other in Clinical Psychology. As an outgrowth of her extensive work in rehabilitation in the arts, Dr. Marcie has now developed a piano program that serves every child within his or her disability so as to maximize the potential of that child.
