The Eating Disorders Association of Maine (EDAM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eating disorder awareness, education, prevention, and support throughout Maine. EDAM connects individuals, families, schools, healthcare providers, and community members with trusted eating disorder resources, provider directory listings, trainings, events, and advocacy. Through education, outreach, and community collaboration, EDAM works to reduce stigma, improve access to care, and promote weight-inclusive, body-affirming support for people impacted by eating disorders and disordered eating.

The scenic city of Portland, Maine offers a relaxing, calming atmosphere conducive to quiet and tranquility and is home to Liberty Bay Recovery, a facility designed to feel more like home than a clinical setting. It is one of the premier centers for alcohol and drug treatment in the country. Our program is designed to help individuals face and cope with addiction issues in a healthy, safe manner, helping them end their self-destructive behavior and gradually rejoin society.

The Mission of Boys to Men is to support the development of emotionally fluent, civically engaged boys while creating safe communities free from interpersonal violence, sexism and male violence against women and girls. Our programs include RSVP (Reducing Sexism and Violence Program), Boot Camp for New Dads and BOLD Camp (Boys Outdoor Leadership Development).

Each guest is required to work the 12 Steps as they are laid out in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous as well as attend 3 to 5 12 Step meetings each week. We offer in-house meetings that focus on meditation, education around addiction and recovery, as well as goal-oriented accountability. Due to the withdrawn nature of addiction, residents at Lighthouse Recovery are required to work or volunteer no less than 20 hours each week. We maintain a zero tolerance policy toward all substance use that is ensured through random drug testing and breathalyzing. We recommend each guest stay for a minimum of 3 to 6 months in order to build a strong foundation in recovery before fully integrating back into the community. Lighthouse Recovery seeks to help individuals heal from addiction as well as its underlying causes. Our approach supports each guest deepen their experience in the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous by helping them learn behaviors and practices that strengthen their foundation and inner development. Each guest is guided toward a lifestyle that is both healthy and meaningful while focusing on mending strained relationships with family and loved ones. These foundational pieces lay the groundwork for independent living within an integrated recovery program that is tailored to each individual. As guests establish themselves in fulfilling hobbies, improved family and social relations, and stable employment we begin preparation for their transition out of sober living into the community.

At Pine Tree Recovery Center, we help clients in the Portland community heal and recreate their lives with a holistic, multi-pronged approach to addiction and mental health recovery. We offer drug and alcohol detoxification programs as well as outpatient treatment services to residents of Portland, Maine and all surrounding areas. In the detoxification portion of our program, clients undergo a safe and comfortable drug and/or alcohol withdrawal under close medical supervision.
