Founded in 1999, Women of Means has been sending volunteer physicians and a small core of nurses into Boston-area shelters to provide free and "unfettered" healthcare and other services to homeless and marginally housed women and their families. Our founding belief is that women and children deserve accessible and compassionate health care, and should not have to sacrifice scarce cash, safety, warmth and food to get basic medical help.
