The Good Shepherd Center, a volunteer-staffed non-profit, has provided food and clothing to Monroe County, Tennessee residents in need since 1986, while treating families with dignity and respect. Area pastors and church members identified a need to serve those in immediate financial crisis, experiencing sudden or unexpected hardship. Supported by public grants and gifts from private donors and businesses, the Good Shepherd Center assists the working poor, people on disability, or those in a crisis, to ensure that children are well nourished, seniors live in dignity, and members of the community have access to healthy food and basic needs. GSC serves on average 1,700 county residents and distributes 30,000 pounds of food monthly.
