The organization is named after Mr. Denton Pop Johnson (Pop's likeness is featured in the new Logo for DJTC) who initiated Eatonville's tennis program, of which Tina McCall Waters was one of his first students. As a mentor , Pop Johnson asked that each of his protege give back to the community in any way possible. Founder Tina McCall-Waters begin her tennis career in Eatonville Florida at the age of 8, coached by Denton Johnson. Tina's accomplishments are: First African American from Central Florida to earn recognition at state and national levels. Received Big 10 Championship titles 4 years at Indiana University, while playing singles and doubles at the #q1 and #2 position Awarded 'All-American" status in Junior and Senior years First African American to receive a four years scholarshi
