S.O.F.A. - We are a non-profit organization formed to promote fresh, high quality, domestic fish. Formed in Madeira Beach since 1976, S.O.F.A. was originally more of a social club for grouper fishermen than anything else. Over the years we have worked hard to enhance the image of the American fisherman. We have worked together with other groups and many agencies, both state and federal, to keep the Gulf of Mexico clean and environmentally secure. Our Advocacy: If you don’t have a boat or a way to catch fish the only way you can get fresh Florida fish is from a licensed commercial fisherman and dealers. The Southern Offshore Fishing Association is continually fighting to keep access open for the consumer. Currently: The current system being used to manage the Gulf of Mexico fisheries is broken and is, in many instances, causing more problems than it is solving.
