I was raised in the south and have always had a love for food - buying, cooking, eating, and sharing it with others. I had wonderful teacher; my great grandmother who milked her own cows and made butter and cream, my grandmother who grew and preserved her own fruits and vegetables, and my mom who stretched her pennies to feed seven kids. I have also been inspired by the many mom and pop places I have visited across the south where the best of the local flavors are captured. After years of feeding my husband, our two boys, and their hungry friends, I opened Melanie's to share my love of cooking with you. I hope you enjoy! ~ Melanie Smith
