Sweet Charleston Designs honors the oldest, continuously produced African American historical art form: Sweet Grass Basketry with our interpretive fine jewelry. Each piece is custom crafted in either sterling on sterling silver or hand woven over 18K gold over sterling, in a pattern reminiscent of Lowcountry traditional fanner baskets. We endeavor to educate others about the significance and origin of the basketry craft and lend support to the preservation of the art. Recognizing that the natural resources for basketry production are being reduced as coastal development continues, we hope to work to aide in land conservation in or near the marshlands.
