Edsel Breland, FAIBD founded Breland & Farmer Designers, Inc. in 1972 in Jackson, Mississippi. The energy crisis that followed shortly afterward etched a permanent reminder into the company's design philosophy to design homes that are very energy efficient. Breland & Farmer, working with government agencies and private industry, designed the prototypes that have become the models for energy efficient home design. A native of the deep south, Breland drew on the heritage of the area to create home designs that offer the comfort and nostalgia of the past with the efficiency and convenience of the future.
