The Kankakee Valley Montessori School was established in March 1968 as a private, not-for profit preschool by a group of concerned parents. We continue to run under a Parent-run Board of Directors. KVMS is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and Accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education. The school serves children from the ages of two to six years. The development of self-confidence, independence, concentration and the love of learning in a carefully prepared environment is emphasized. The program is based on the educational method developed over a century ago by Dr. Maria Montessori.
