St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park's ground was broke in 1929. At that time the area around Route 23 and Grape Road was rugged farmland, five miles from South Bend. As a Memorial Park of 80 acres it has the concept of a park-like environment with only flush bronze memorials. There is an Old English Tower that stands at the gate of entry. As you drive though the Memorial Park you see a wide variety of trees, landscaping and a pond with fountains that captures the park-like atmosphere.
