If death comes suddenly, it becomes difficult to make good decisions at a time when grief and concern for the future throw the mind into turmoil. Even when death is expected, grief drains our energy and clouds our ability to think clearly. South Side Cemetery was established in September 1873. Former Mayor Armstrong is buried here, along with many local businesspeople, one such family being the Sankey family, who owned a brick company in Pittsburgh that grew into a large, profitable business. We have over 40,000 people buried here, and soon to be 41, 000. We have three pet sections, with two already completely filled, and the third close to meeting capacity.
