As a child of the ' Mid- Century' my design- spiritual hero's were: Frank Lloyd Wright, Gustav Stickley, Thoreau, Jackson Pollack, Van Gogh, Charles Eames, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Timothy Leary . . . if that makes sense. If one must Create then you draw upon those who mirror your style - then create your Own Voice. I find all mediums/ materials present an opportunity to flesh out what they should say. Whether working in wood - stone - metal - re-purposed or found objects, first I see potential for something above the raw element . . . and attempt to create something more beautifully Spiritual.
