In October of 1986 Jean Coutu & his wife Christine started Century Carpet & Creative Floors. At first they were a shop at home flooring company working out of their home in Pepperell MA. They would both bring the samples to the customer's homes, measure, sell, and install the products. As time went on and their company, and family grew, Jean and a helper would install, and many times Christine with kids in tow would see the customers. As time went on, the kids, and the business grew to where they could no longer work out of their home, they moved their company to a warehouse in Pepperell, then a store front in Ayer, and eventually where they are today at 21 Main Street. Jean & Christine are still there watching over things, but now they have a 2400 retail store in beautiful downtown Ayer MA. With 6 full time employees, many installation crews(one of which is led by their oldest son). They have built their business on Honesty, Quality, Fairness, and Customer Service. Many of their customers have been with them for years. There are now customers that Jean had installed flooring for, that now their son is replacing since it wore out.
