Theater Tulsa, known as Tulsa Little Theatre until 1982, is many things for many people. It was a dream for two ladies, Mrs. Paul Reed & W.R. Holway, who in 1922 wanted to bring theater to Tulsa. The theatre has taken bold steps as a leader in producing new plays. It made history when it became the first community theatre to perform Our Town (1939), All My Sons (1947), and the musical Brownstone (1985). The depression, war and a fire could not put the theatre out of business. If there were no playhouses for per- formances they would put up a tent. The company even entertained soldiers at bases and military hospitals during the War. For 87 years Theatre Tulsa has been alive and active making it the longest continually running community theater West of the Mississippi.
