Taliesin is the country home, studio, school, 800-acre agricultural estate and architectural anthology of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright — a Wisconsin native. Taliesin Preservation is its steward, responsible for both preservation and public-access programming of this National Historic Landmark.
Taliesin is acknowledged as the embodiment of Wright’s commitment to the creation of exceptional environments that harmonize architecture, art, culture, and the land. This rural property near Spring Green, homesteaded by his Welsh immigrant grandparents and considered a place of significance by Wright for his profound experiences with nature there as a youth, is home to buildings from nearly every decade of Wright’s celebrated career.
Today, Taliesin is listed on the State and National Registry of Historic Places, and UNESCO is considering an application submitted by the United States National Park Service in 2008 for Taliesin and nine other Wright-designed buildings to be named World Heritage Sites. Taliesin is featured prominently on the recently established Frank Lloyd Wright Trail connecting Wright sites across Wisconsin from Racine to Madison to Spring Green to Richland Center, and is a major tourist destination, with an annual draw of nearly 25,000 annual visitors.
Explore each of Wright's buildings across the estate on a Taliesin Preservation public tour, including:
