John Healy opened his first funeral home in South Philadelphia in 1904. Around 1910, the family name inexplicably changed to Healey, but the service remained the same. The business involved John & brother, Joseph, who also opened his own home in South Philadelphia.
In 1935, Joseph's son, John A. II, opened the family's first South Jersey funeral home in Haddon Heights. This home was not very successful, and he was forced to return to Philadelphia. Eleven years later, in 1946, John tried again in South Jersey and purchased an old home from James Wentzell on the White Horse Pike in Haddon Heights. He converted the old home into John A. Healey Funeral Home, and to this day the family business is anchored here.
Healey Funeral Homes now consist of two locations in Haddon Heights and Cherry Hill. Both locations are managed by Timothy J. Healey. Tim, his father John A. Healey III, and his brother John C. Healey are all licensed practitioners working at both locations.
We encourage you to contact us should you have any questions or suggestions about the services we offer. We may be reached directly at one of our two locations or through our convenient online information request form. Thank you for visiting.
