Our “Heritage” actually started when the original James A. Cannon founded Cannon Funeral Home in Fountain Inn, S.C. in 1879. Arthur Dickson Cannon was the second generation and James Cannon the third generation. Cannon Funeral Home was sold in 1991 to the owner of the Mackey Mortuary of Greenville, S.C. Both organizations were later sold to Stewart Enterprises, a public corporation out of New Orleans, and changed hands several times since. In October of 2012, after years of planning, Andy Byrd and the late James Cannon partnered to open Heritage Funeral Home in Simpsonville under private ownership. In October of 2016, we reacquired Cannon Funeral Home and Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn returning that operation to local, private ownership and control. The acquisition joins the staff and resources of Heritage Funeral Home in Simpsonville and Cannon Funeral Home in Fountain Inn along with Cannon Memorial Park, a perpetual care cemetery, as full service burial and cremation service providers to the surrounding communities.
