The business, Fishing with Father Murphy, started out as a hobby in 1997 after his retirement from Washoe County School District due to pain from back surgery. A former local fishing guide, James "Dick" Murphy began hand-crafting lures for his use to fish for Kokanee Salmon at Stampede Reservoir and Donner Lake. Murphy, makes his products in his Sun Valley home. Murphy produces a wide variety of lure's that are all hand made in the U.S.A.. Murphy offers 11 different colors of 1/2 oz. and 3/4 oz. spoons that work well on lake trout and salmon. "All my colors have been tried and proven to be very effective at Pyramid Lake.
