Unlike most indoor shrimp farms, Brookins Shrimp Farms tanks have rock and sand for substrate along with hiding places, climbing areas and open space, making their environment as close to their own natural environment as possible. Because of the rapid depletion of over-fished wild shrimp in our oceans and the rise of imported shrimp being contaminated and treated with chemicals and antibiotics, Cecil and Kathy Brookins began several years of research and study so they could start a sustainable farm to raise Pacific White Shrimp which did not have diseases, nor were contaminated or treated with chemicals and antibiotics.
