We are a non-profit animal welfare group committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of at-risk pets. We rescue dogs and cats from everywhere in the country. With our rescue shelter and foster homes, we have up to 100 dogs and puppies and up to 80 cats and kittens in our care at any time. More than 95 percent of the money we receive is spent directly on animal rescue and rehabilitation. Our only sources of revenue are adoption fees, donations, and fundraising efforts. We are a dedicated, no-kill organization. We provide comfortable and nurturing living quarters for homeless pets, even when a pet needs to stay with us a long time awaiting the right adoption match.

We are an all volunteer organization. Everything we do is to prevent pets from being taken from their beloved families and either "put to sleep" or put into over-crowded shelters. We started 17 years ago with one cat and one senior. We were the first organization to offer this type of service in West Michigan and still are the only one offering this kind of services. We provide and deliver pet food and supplies FREE. We help with cost of spay and neuters and provied transportation to and from our clients vet of choice. We are a pet food (supplies too) based organization. We recieve very little cash and put 99% of what we receive into the service the donor intended.

Make sure your pet's shots are up to date. Proof of vaccination is required for Rabies, Distemper, Parvo and K-9 cough. There is no extra charge to serve your pet it's own food. We do use our own bowls and dishes because of the disinfectant we clean with. It's a good idea to take an older dog to the vet for a checkup before you bring it to the kennel. Let your vet know your dog will be at Happy Tail. We will call your own personal vet in case of an emergency. If your pet is on medication, be sure to bring enough to last your pet during its stay with us. We do not charge extra to give your pet prescribed medications. A few days before your pet's visit, give your dog an old towel or an old shirt to sleep with and bring the article with your pet along with some special treats.
