Who is The Calm Companion..Rosanne Eigel. My love of dogs was innately present at the early age of 3, as I was found in the garage with a neighbor puppy, sound asleep on the floor. This was only the beginning of my lifelong interest in learning about and working with animals. I have always enjoyed spending my time with my animals, which have included over the years…dogs, cats, horses, burros, goats, and cows. I have always known that my real passion and joy came from being in their presence.

The Athens County Humane Society is committed to promoting better care and compassion for animals, providing permanent homes with responsible caregivers for our companion animals, and reducing abandonment and euthanasia of healthy animals by providing spay and neuter assistance and education. We are a 100% volunteer organization. We support our programs through fundraising, donations and memberships; we do not receive funding from the government or the Humane Society of the United States. We are NOT affiliated with the Athens County Dog Shelter, which is a county-run shelter. Our services include low-cost spay/neuter clinics; pediatric/early spay and neuter; limited foster care for homeless dogs and cats; adoption services; help in finding rescues for animals; lost & found pet resources
