Deconstruction is a green alternative to demolition. The difference is in methodology, as well as where the materials go after demolition. Demolition uses a backhoe to knock down a structure, destroying useful or valuable architectural artifacts and building materials which then go to our burgeoning landfills. Our teams of skilled workers disassemble structures by hand. This method allows us to salvage over 75% of the building materials for reuse, re-purposing or recycling. This includes lumber (including old growth 'furry' timbers from historical buildings) brick, bead board and other trim pieces, decorative items such as mantles, valuable wrought iron aluminum and copper, flooring and many other items.
