Athens Christian Church is a rural church within Fayette County, and Lexington-Fayette County government. The congregation chartered in 1848. The first and present worship building built in 1852. The present preaching/teaching team is Gary Pettyjohn and Samuel Long. The mission of the congregation is to equip those following Jesus Christ: To KNOW Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and the body of Christ on earth as in heaven.
