Unity Boston is a special place. It teaches you how to bring a loving, caring God alive in your daily life. It teaches you how to apply the teachings of Jesus Christ in practical and successful ways. It is part of a spiritual movement for individuals growing, seeking, unfolding, and becoming what they are truly meant to be, and to recognize and experience the power and presence of God.
We see each individual’s spiritual quest as an open-ended search for Truth. We believe that every person can realize and express his or her own divine potential.
Unity Boston is more than a church – more than a school – more than a religion. Unity Boston is a “way of life.” Unity Boston is more interested in teaching you “how” to think than “what” to think. Unity Boston has no creed requirements or rigid dogma. We encourage you to explore and apply Unity teachings based on your own spiritual understanding. We believe this spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and meditation.
Spiritual empowerment through personal responsibility is taught and encouraged as a path to a more fulfilled life. The five basic principles that make up the Unity belief system are:
1. There is one Presence and one Power in the universe and in our lives, God the Good, Omnipotent.
2. The spirit of God is within each one of us. Therefore, we are inherently good.
3. We create our lives through the power of our thoughts and feelings.
4. We align with God and access the Christ power through affirmative prayer and meditation.
5. Knowing these principles is not enough. We transform our lives by putting them into practice.
