Beginning in 2002, RSI began to build home libraries for low-income children in several NC counties because books in the home is shown to have a significant impact on early literacy development. For 10 years, RSI gave books freely to organizaions and schools to give to children to own. In 2012, their mission shifted to a platform of education, advocacy and demonstration of how literacy builds homes, community and a nation. Literacy is everybody's business and RSI involves individuals to corporations in the literacy challenge.
