One way I view these works is as "pocket change" that you can easily memorize if you like and carry them with you. Then you can summon up a verse to sing to yourself or just think about when the mood strikes. I intended for these songs to offer something original and out of the ordinary, with lines that are sung for possibly the first time and that definitely have not been repeated for the one-hundredth or one-thousandth time elsewhere.
