Data Governance is the term used for organizations managing risk and getting maximum value out of their data and information. Data Governance would be "formalizing accountability for the definition, production and usage of data by the people of your organization leading to improvements in data risk management (security, privacy, protection, classification, and compliance), increased quality and understanding of data, and improved analytical and decision making capabilities." Data Governance leads to formal management of data as a strategic organizational asset and the formal stewardship of (and accountability for) data across the organization.
