Brazil is home to some of the most brilliant mathematicians, including Artur Avila, a recipient of the prestigious Fields Medal. As a student in Brazil, he developed a deep understanding of concepts, tackled a wide variety of problems, and solved them. Brazilian mathematics is an approach to math that recognizes that middle and high-school-level students can do more than solve problems they have been taught to solve. Instead, they can develop a deep understanding of concepts, solve problems they may have never seen, and confidently present their solutions to others. At Brazilian School of Mathematics, we partner with parents to understand what they would like for their child to accomplish in our program.
