Oakhurst is located at the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park and five miles from Bass Lake. The road cycling is great and the mountain biking is awesome. The Sierra Scenic Byway starts just south of Bass Lake in North Fork and takes you up to the Ansel Adams Wilderness area passing Mammoth Pools at the headwaters of the San Joaquin River. The Grizzly Century ride is very popular on the first Saturday of October every year offering 25, 64, 80 and 100 miles of very scenic views and sparse car traffic with the entire community of North Fork turning out to promote the non profit event.
