WHO WE ARE The Institute for Sequential Art, Inc, is sponsored by Artspire, a program of the New York Foundation for the Arts. The Institute for Sequential Art undertakes the mission of promoting the national and international study and preservation of the sequential art field within the scholarly, professional, fan and general communities. Through social media communications, we explore the worldwide historical impact and cultural legitimacy of comics and graphic novels. WHAT WE DO The main goal of the Institute is to educate all communities about the cultural legitimacy of the sequential art field by detailing and discussing the artistic, cultural, and historical impact comics and graphic novels have on issues involving society, culture, gender, race, politics and philosophy.
