For nearly 100 years, Camp Caribou has helped boys aged 7 to 15 build lifelong memories at its private 200-acre peninsula in central Maine. Camp Caribou is currently guided by three generations of the Lerman family, who provide a safe, inviting, and family atmosphere while offering a range of athletic, creative, leadership, and skill-building activities.
In addition to its wide variety of activities, day trips, and camping excursions, Camp Caribou is dedicated to the health and safety of its campers. The camp’s on-premises infirmary is staffed by two pediatric nurses who live on the campus and a physician who is on-call 24 hours per day, and Maine General hospital is just a few short miles away. Additionally, campers have access to a full menu of nutritious and delicious food options prepared using local and seasonal produce and meats whenever possible.
Dedicated to serving boys from all backgrounds, the camp maintains the Caribou Collaborative Initiative, a nonprofit organization that raises funds and partners with other nonprofit groups in New York City, Boston, and rural Maine to offer “camperships” to boys who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend. Those interested in supporting the initiative can learn more at www.campcaribou.com/prospective-families/campership-initiative.
