Camp Thoreau was founded in Concord, MA, in 1951 by a young couple by the names of Dot and Click Pulis. They owned a small piece of land and that first summer there were only thirty five campers! Sixty two years later, Camp Thoreau is now in its third generation of family ownership and management. While it has evolved tremendously, the traditions and philosophies that Dot and Click instilled - give kids the chance to experience nature and participate in activities in a safe and supportive environment - have remained constant and are a sacred piece of Camp Thoreau's programming.
