Clark's Self Defense was founded and established by Derrick Clark in 1999. Derrick began Martial Arts training more than 25 years ago at the age of 8. At 12, he became one of the youngest black belt instructors in the Northeast. In 1994 Derrick created the S.A.F.A. (Stopping Attacks Safe and Effectively) program for children that was incorporated into the curriculum taut at our studios. Derrick is now a certified fifth degree black belt in Kempo Karate and a certified Pressure Points Instructor with supplemental training in Shotokan Karate, Okinawan and Wu Shu Weaponry, Jujitsu and Kung Fu. In addition to being a qualified instructor, Derrick ran a weekly television series demonstrating various self-defense techniques. He also directs many Karate tournaments and seminars throughout the year and gives lectures and demonstrations in colleges and universities. He is actively involved in Schools, Health Clubs, Youth Organizations, Recreation Departments and Police Departments.

Classes taught by Sensei Jeremy Harris, a Saulo Ribeiro 2nd Degree Black Belt and 2011 Pan Ams Champion. Jeremy Started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1994 in Columbus Ohio through Royce Gracie and Relson Gracie through seminars and classes held at the Original Gracie Ohio in the Lower level of The Wicker Tree Tennis Club. Jeremy received his Blue Belt from Royce Gracie in 1995. In 1998 He began teaching a small group of people and started "The Triangle Club" in a Gymnastics Academy until 2001 until they moved to a Golds Gym and remained there till 2013 where they became Lima BJJ/ Ribeiro Lima. During that time Jeremy traveled to Toledo in 2003 and met Master Saulo as a Blue Belt and had the Honor of being promoted that week to Purple Belt by Saulo. Jeremy has been with the Ribeiro brothers ever since and was promoted to Black belt by Master Saulo and Xande in 2009.
