Takayama Dojo was founded in 1999 in Bend Oregon. Takayama Aiki dojo is dedicated to the way and practice of Aiki (Harmony and Spirit) teaching the traditional Japanese Martial Arts.
We are offering adult and children's classes in the traditional art of Aikido (the way of harmony) a non-competitive, non-violent art.
We also offer an Aiki Jujutsu program for adults who are looking for a more dedicated martial arts training. This art is a full encompassing efficient and effective traditional martial art, class size is limited and is very physically and emotionally demanding.
Sensei has been practicing and teaching the martial arts since 1979.
His first and most memorable experience with the Japanese Martial Art was in 1979-81 where he had the Honor to train extensively in a Traditional Japanese Koryu Jujutsu Dojo while stationed in Japan with the U.S. Air Force, since then he has trained in 9 different styles of Martial Arts including Pre-war Kendo, Taijutsu, Shotokan Karate, BudoTaijutsu, classic Jujutsu, Aikijutsu and Aikido. Sensei has chosen to focus on the Japanese Aiki Arts, do to the forgiving nature of the art and practice.
Sensei holds the rank of 5th Dan in Aikido, 2nd Dan in Aiki Jujutsu and Yodansha in traditional Japanese Jujutsu.
