My Name is Lysa Knight Goguen. I am a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and Founder of The Mischievous Dog.
I have been involved in professional pet dog training for 16 years and am the previous co-owner of one of the largest positive reinforcement schools in Southern California. I wanted to spend more time with dogs and their people versus managing a large facility so I made the change to go back to basics.
I started seriously training dogs when a yellow Labrador named Guinness came into my life. He became one of the greatest loves of my life but the road to get there was bumpy. Guinness was a wild young dog that chewed everything, pulled on leash, ran away, and generally loved being unruly. His passion and enthusiasm for life made me laugh, and it made me cry. I spent many hours training him and working through the difficulties we had together. Through this we became a great team. He is the reason I wanted to be a dog trainer. I knew what I had “suffered” to build my bond and trust with Guinness, and I wanted to help others do the same. At that time I left my Human Resources, Corporate America job to work with people like you and me!
Since then I have had 7 other dogs of my own come along and teach me new things, as well as working with hundreds of clients and their dogs. Each one teaches us something new and I love the challenge of making the client’s goals and the personality of the dog come together to make a cohesive relationship. I love working with the puppies and showing them how to take on this busy and crowed world of Southern California. I thrive on problem solving with dogs and behavior problems from leash pulling to aggression.
My current dogs, Mischief, Mayhem, Fury, Vandal and Wycked and I are always working towards our goals. We compete in dog agility and they help with socializing other dogs and help aggressive dogs feel more comfortable around dogs. I attend seminars with world renowned positive reinforcement trainers to help us all reach our goals, and for us to help you reach yours!

Wendy uses the American Kennel Club Obedience Standards. Wendy began training dogs when she was just 12 years old, with her first dog, a miniature poodle named “Bebe”. Wendy wanted to train her new dog with the premier dog trainer in Minneapolis, MN "Marly Whiting". When Wendy's mother first approached Marly, she wouldn't accept her, saying "she's too young and wouldn't follow-through". Her mother convinced Marly that she would follow-through, and she did. Wendy received her American Kennel Club (AKC) Companion Dog Title (an obedience title) when she was just 15. "I was the only child showing against all adults", said Wendy. Since that time she also trained her horse Lakota and rode to two National Championships in Dressage. Her horse Lakota was inducted into the Norco Horse Town USA Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2014 she has been inducted into the Hall of Fame for "Equestrian".
Before Wendy became a Master Behavioral Therapist and Dog Obedience Trainer in 2007, she was the Marketing Director for VCA Animals Hospitals (VCA has over 500 hospitals nation-wide). There she designed the “Animal Shelter Program” where VCA provided free medical care to newly adopted pets in exchange for exclusive referrals from animal shelters. Wendy visited over 80 animal shelters and implemented the program with some of the largest shelters in the country (Houston SPCA, Arizona Humane Society, Humane Society of Silicon Valley, Sacramento SPCA, SPCA of Texas, San Diego Humane Society, SPCA LA, PAWS-Chicago, SPCA Wake County-Raleigh, Humane Society of Broward County to name a few). Wendy also became a member of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators (SAWA). Seeing the plight of these shelter animals and realizing that behavioral issues are often to blame, Wendy began training people and their dogs. She has successfully helped hundreds of dogs and their owners throughout the Inland Empire. “Now I can do my part in helping companion animals. I am thankful to say that I have been able to help many people and their canine companions create a happy, healthy bond through canine communication and leadership.” says Wendy.
