The shop's name is derived from the language of the Wahpekute (Dakota Sioux), the original inhabitants of the Waterville site now occupied by the Sakatah State Park. They named this area Sakatah, which translates to "the sights and sounds of children playing on the hill," or loosely translated as "Singing Hills".
