Dr. Richard Stone recognized by Western for Medical and Military Achievement The College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University is proud to announce the 2013 Alumni Achievement Award winners. This year’s impressive group includes Major General Richard Stone, a local dermatologist who is recognized for his executive leadership in the nation and community. Dr. Stone distinguished himself during a 23 year military career highlighted by service in Afghanistan as commander of all medical forces in Operation Enduring Freedom. He has provided command leadership and at all level of The Army Medical Command and most recently completed a 3 year assignment as The Deputy Surgeon General of The Army. He is now assigned as the acting director of health care operations for the Department of Defense until his military retirement in November of this year. MG Stone plans to return to the full time practice of Dermatology in Sterling Heights Michigan following his retirement from The Army. He looks forward to once again being with his family and patients full time while providing service to the community.
