When Dr. Monica Kelly was a teenager, her little sister became very ill and needed to be hospitalized. One of the pediatricians at the hospital made a huge difference to her family by being extremely present and always available to help them. That's when she decided to go into medicine. "I wanted to be present to help people like that," Dr. Kelly said, "and every time I worked with children in medical school, I knew pediatrics is where I belong," She enjoys educating both children and their families and working together with them as partners in caring for their kids.

??A genuine love for children led Dr. Dawson to a career in Pediatrics. "My favorite part of my job is being with kids and helping them to feel better. Kids say wonderful things and their smiles make everyone's day." Dr. Micah Ryan's journey to become a pediatrician began when his daughter became very sick and needed to be hospitalized at four weeks old. "It was such a helpless feeling," said Dr. Ryan. "The pediatric team showed such care and compassion for my daughter. It really made a huge impression on me, and I knew that providing care and compassion was something that I wanted to do for others. I love that I get to help parents to parent as that is one of the hardest jobs to do." Going above and beyond for his patients is always Dr. Ryan's goal.

Dr. Heather Zimmerman's favorite part of her job as a pediatrician is working with babies and toddlers and their families. She enjoys helping parents become more comfortable and knowledgeable in caring for their child. "I especially love working with first-time parents and watching them go from nervous and excited to experienced pros by the second child," said Dr. Zimmerman. Her focus is on practicing evidence-based medicine, often looking to the American Academy of Pediatrics for continuing education and expert guidance. ??Dr. Domet feels that prevention is the critical key in pediatric healthcare, meaning that it is important to care for the whole child physically, socially, and emotionally. "Children are our most important resource, and we have to be very careful to keep them well and ensure that they grow up into healthy adults." In his many rewarding years of practice at Boys Town, Dr. Domet feels that the greatest compliment he ever receives is when his patients have grown up and returned to have him care for their own children.
