Rebekah Shim was born in Los Angeles, raised in Orange County and educated at local universities. She is a nurse practitioner who chose to specialize in breast oncology. Working and providing care to patients in Southern California means a lot to me, Rebekah says. I pursued a career in medicine because it combined my drive to care for others with my passion for science. I discovered my passion for oncology during my clinical preceptorship in my nurse practitioner program. I had the opportunity to work at a comprehensive cancer center and I witnessed how this specialty allowed clinicians to combine clinical expertise with a compassionate, patient-centered approach. Rebekah's preceptor recognized the passion she had for cancer care and encouraged her to pursue a career in oncology.
