Dr. Foster resumes his longstanding Lafayette practice in August, 2016, after a year of consulting in Europe. He is back until late 2017, and is accepting clients who will benefit from short-term therapy. In this type of therapy, Dr. Foster is active during meetings, encouraging clients to view their situation in a wider context, and to practice these alternative ways of thinking and acting between meetings. It is an approach rooted in the here and now: any focused attention on childhood occurs only when the therapy encounters a major stumbling block. Short term therapy is appropriate for: INDIVIDUALS with depression/anxiety from specific causes; indecision in relationships, work, school; problems communicating/resolving conflicts; codependency; sexual concerns. COUPLES with infidelity; commitment issues; communication difficulties; maintaining closeness throughout parenting stresses; FAMILY issues: ongoing conflicts with a child; positive discipline with limits/boundaries; developmental stage problems.
