I believe that the mind is the dominant source in most medical illnesses. The mind and body are intimately connected and in a constant state of dynamic interaction. What happens in the body is reflected in the mind and vice-versa. After 45 years practicing internal medicine I switched over to an alternative approach about 14 years ago as I felt the traditional approach using cause and effect methods generally considered the mind and body as being separate and largely minimized the profound affect the mind has on all illnesses. I had a long time interest in psychosomatic medicine and did hypnotherapy intermittently over the years. Also had some 25 years experience using acupuncture. I have since studied and added elements from several mental health fields including Neruo-Linguistic Programing, Neuro-semantics, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Cognitive and Rational Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamics to my hypnotherapy treatments. I also offer a more western style acupuncture to the integrated hypnotherapy as needed or in some cases as primary therapy. I am one of a small number of MD's that offer both hypnotherapy and acupuncture together in this country.
