Mariposa Bioscience, Inc. was founded in mid 2006 by Robert Pytela and Jacinto Villanueva. Mariposa Bioscience has developed, and now firmly established, a new technology for obtaining monoclonal antibodies directly from peripheral blood B cells of non-rodent species (primarily rabbit and chicken). The company’s business has focused on contract antibody development, primarily for major suppliers in the immunohistochemistry/in vitro diagnostics field, as well for university laboratories. In addition, Mariposa Bioscience is also actively pursuing in-house research and development, focusing on further technology improvement, high-throughput antibody development, and discovery of antibodies against novel cancer bio-markers for research, diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
