Wallace Lumber Company was founded west of Summit, Mississippi in 1990. What started as a single sawmill producing hardwood pallets and dragline mats has expanded over the years to include three sawmills dedicated to the production of rough-cut lumber, timbers and pallet cants. In 1993, Empire Mats was incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wallace Lumber Company to produce dragline and laminated mats for the oil and gas as well as the pipeline industries. Currently, Empire Mats employs more than 100 workers and can produce laminated hardwood mats and dragline mats in large volume. These mats can be custom built for the purchaser in order to address the specific requirements of a project.
