American Foundation of Counseling Services (AFCS), located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, was established in 1965 by George Kress of Green Bay Packaging and Norman Vincent Peale with the original goal of providing training, counseling and education to clergy and congregations in Northeast Wisconsin. Today, AFCS provides various services with a unique focus on integrating mind, body and spirit into all of its work. Specific services include: Counseling Services: Quality mental health counseling and community educational services with a focus on seeking solutions that integrate emotional, physical and spiritual strengths. AFCS is committed to providing quality services to all of our clients, including those who are uninsured or under-insured, and is one of only a few providers in the community who accept Medicare, Wisconsin Medicaid and offers payment alternatives. Foster Care Program: Serves children placed in care in Northeast Wisconsin who are in need of intensive care and nurturing away from their home. The program also offers comprehensive Independent Living Skills programming to ensure children are prepared when they turn 18 and leave foster care. Ethics in Business Awards: AFCS believes that recognizing healthy work environments is one of the best ways we can promote emotional well-being and mental health, and that unhealthy work environments negatively impact individuals and their relationships - as spouses, parents, etc. Mental health Outreach Resource Expansion (MORE) Program: A collaboration between AFCS and six partner agencies. The program brings mental health care professionals on-site to local homeless shelters, and provides counseling, assessment, and medication management to persons in shelter.
