The Best Friends Mentoring Program serves under the Western Wellness Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) formed in 1995. The organization has delivered mentoring programs to more than 2,000 youth since then and serves with the help of more than 600 community volunteers. Through mentoring, the Western Wellness Foundation lives out its mission of, "making a positive difference in children and families, one at a time." BFMP matches screened and trained adult role models with youth seeking positive adult guidance and friendship. BFMP has two mentoring initiatives: 1. School-based mentoring matches adult volunteers ages 16+ with students at area elementary, junior high, and high schools to meet one-on-one during the school day. 2. Community-based mentoring matches adult volunteers ages 18+ with youth to meet one-on-one outside of school hours.
