Bishop Eldon B Schuster Council 1493 was founded in 1910. It is named after Bishop Eldon B Schuster who served as Bishop of Great Falls from 1961 until 1978. The Council works closely with Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Ann's Cathedral, Corpus Christi and Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel Parishes and the community in and around Great Falls, MT, providing funds for various projects. Members are active participants in their parish. The Knights of Columbus was founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity. The order was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood.
